
EFT Sleep Therapy
This simple tapping technique can be learned in a short while and is very effective for many people. Here is the protocol:
Develop a statement “Even though I……., I completely and fully love and accept myself, and I choose to….. The first part of the statement would name the condition your want to stop doing such as “over-schedule myself”. The last part of the statement would be the changed behavior, “schedule myself more free time.” While you develop this statement you tap one of your hands’ “karate” points (the fleshy part of the palm below the little finger).
Then find a “sore spot” near the clavicle (collar bone) on either the right or left side. After finding that sore spot (as everyone has one), make your statement while moving in a circular direction. Say the statement three times while continuing the circular motion.
Now, begin tapping in the following sequence while saying a shortened version of your affirmation at each point. For instance: “I schedule myself more free time”:
1) Tap 7-8 times with both hands using ring finger and middle finger at right and left at inside start of eyebrow
2) Tap with both hands at corners of eyes
3) Using one hand, tap under nose with two fingers
4) Using one hand, tap chin right below lip with two or three fingers
5) Find and tap on a sore spot with one hand, using two or three fingers (work on the same side of body though the following steps)
6) Using one hand, tap below breast
7) Using one hand, tap on far side of rib cage (in line with breast)
8) Using opposite hand, tap at side of nail bed of each of five fingers
9) Tap at karate point
Now the "gamut" follows:
(The gamut" serves to call the right and left hemispheres of the brain into action--and may well concretize a person's stated intention--through using an element of EMDR. The power of this seems remarkable when coupled with the stated intention (and self-affirmation) employed within the tapping the individual does for herself/himself. This facet of EFT may well play a major role in EFT and can be seen as "basic" to reaching the desired healing.)
1) close eyes
2) look sharply down to the right
3) look sharply down to the left
4) roll eyes in a complete circle
5) sing "Happy Birthday to Me" (complete birthday song)
6) count to 10 slowly
7) sing "Happy Birthday" song, again
To complete EFT, repeat the initial steps above(#1-9), using the opposite side of body. No need to do the gamut a second time.
